| Shrnutí: | The purpose of this study was to analyze the comprehensive nursing care provided to an 11-year-old pediatric patient with cerebral palsy who was admitted to the pediatric care unit due to unspecified pneumonia. Cerebral palsy, a chronic neuromuscular condition, added an additional layer of complexity to her care, given its impact on mobility and motor coordination. Nursing interventions focused on management of pneumonia and attention to the patient's specific needs. This included constant monitoring of vital signs and oxygen saturation, as well as administration of supplemental oxygen as needed. Respiratory therapy and early mobilization were implemented to prevent accumulation of pulmonary secretions and improve respiratory function. Care also included management of the patient's pain and discomfort, as well as administration of antibiotics and other medications as medically ordered. Special attention was paid to monitoring for possible complications, such as respiratory failure. The results reflected an improvement in the patient's respiratory function, evidenced by the reduction of pneumonia symptoms and the achievement of adequate oxygen saturation. The positive response to antibiotic treatment was a relevant indicator. This case study highlights the importance of a holistic nursing approach tailored to the specific needs of pediatric patients with cerebral palsy and pneumonia. Specialized care and timely interventions were crucial to optimizing this patient's clinical outcomes. |
