總結:This thesis investigates the environmental impact caused by forest plantations in the Province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador. The main objective was to assess the impacts on the establishment, management, harvest and post-harvest forest plantations; The species in plantations and planted trees investigated were: Balsa (Ochroma lagopus), Melina (Gmelina arborea), Teak (Tectona grandis), Laurel (Cordia alliodora and macrantha), Rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) and Bamboo cane (Guadua angustifolia and aculeata). Environmental impacts were evaluated in: weeding and clearing, signposted, crowning, hole digging, planting, pruning, thinning and logging; using the “Leopold” matrix of impact assessment, assessing the importance and magnitude by a rating scale. The results allowed to observe the interactions between cause and effect variables, in this case environmental factors / actions to be taken. To determine environmental impacts, a matrix was applied, where a total of 386 impacts were recorded, from which 235 were negative and 151 positive, with a final score of 84 negative impacts. Regarding environmental factors, employment was the activity with more positive significant impact (51%) and soil erosion with more negative impact (41%). In relation to the results of the actions performed, logging was the activity with high significant positive impact (72%), while weeding and clearing plantation was de activity with highest negative impacts with (60%). Keywords: Environmental impact, forest plantations, harvesting and post-harvest.
