Sumario:This research project was carried out between July and October 2017, and its main objective was to characterize the socio-economic and productive aspects of small farmers in the El Vergel site and the impact on quality of life. Types of descriptive, explanatory and field research are used, inductive, deductive and analytical methods were used, primary and secondary sources of information were collected. For the development of this project, contact a population of 20 owners, select an extension of up to 11 hectares, these are the latest, research instruments such as: questionnaires, surveys, observations and interviews, which were entered into the statistical programs of Microsoft Excel, with which the Social Welfare Index was determined in terms of socio-economic aspects in order to demonstrate how the lifestyle of small farmers. With regard to basic services, 100% have electricity, do not have drinking water, sewage, landline and internet services. The systems of agricultural production of the finqueros of the enclosure were identified, in their majority, traditional plants that have a total weight of up to 59% of the total of cocoa, followed of the banana with 31%, being these the main ones, since the other crops with 10% do not occur with sufficient frequency. The productivity or yield of the cocoa crop in this area was 9.84qq / ha / year and in plantain it was 72 bunches / ha / year respectively, where the marketing of the main products of the surveyed farmers such as cocoa and plantain was different, that is to say, 71% of the farmers sell cocoa in dry grain to the exporter, which are CasaCao (Exportadora Pedro Martinetti) and Quevexport. S.A. and 31% to intermediaries. Regarding the cultivation of plantain, 78% of farmers sell per unit (cluster), of these 67% sell to the intermediary, since they are sure that the product to the farm, only 33% sells to the exporter Exportadora Madre Tierra .
