Add Tag | Summary: | This research has been conducted in order to determine the feasibility of implementing a transport company, located in Tumbaco, Metropolitan District of Quito, at the northeast of Quito, with an average altitude of 2,235 meters and an approximate area of 65.25 km2. The current estimated population is 50000 inhabitants. The period of investigation required for this research has been 120 days. The market study has largely contributed to the determination of the current service demand and unattended needs, which are essential for the decisions regarding to the project implementation. With the results of surveys to a group of 100 companies, the current demand for the service was determined with an average price of $ 900.00 per trip, and 26 monthly trips on average, finding the value of the current potential market of $ 195,000.00 per month. To determine the location of the business some variables has been considered: the availability of labor 10%, access to transport 20%, availability of basic services 25%, proximity of suppliers 20%, and clients’ access to market 25%. The location of the company in Tumbaco has a 95.5% acceptance. To finance the company a capital of $1,058,517.83 is required. The 60%, $635,110.70 will be covered through a bank loan, and the 40%, $423,407.13, as personal investment. The NPV for the first year has a value of $2,050,371.46, after covering all costs and expenses. The TIR has a rate of 110.03% for the next five years, which is much higher than the discount rate of 29.61%. The cost-benefit ratio shows a value of 1.94%, indicating that for every dollar of investment, 0.94 USD are obtained. The results presented in the research would ensure the implementation, execution and feasibility of the project.
