| الملخص: | Corn is the cereal that produces the most in the world, is a transcendent plant for the welfare of moisture, which contributes to food security in Ecuador, corn is the main component of animal feed products. The process of drying corn involves cleaning, selection of the same, the success of storage will depend on an effective drying process. The grain always has a percentage of moisture inside; although at first glance it does not appear to be wet, for this it is necessary to carry out the corn drying process, in order to reduce moisture and improve its quality, as established parameters of the INEN 187:2013 standard is accepted with up to 13%. The main drying methods used to dry corn in the canton of Quevedo were identified, of which the methods that stand out the most are the conventional method and continuous flow, the technology used in the different drying systems was analyzed, the technology of the conventional method is more semiautomatic and manual and the continuous flow technology is presents greater automated systems that increase productivity and efficiency, using less time, the bottlenecks or restrictions that occur in the process of drying corn were identified, In the market (reception) there is an oversupply of corn with high moisture content since the harvest date coincides with the winter, in production there is a restriction with the drying capacity since when receiving corn with moisture content more time is used to reduce moisture, Finally, the applicability of the ISO 50001 standard was evaluated to determine its viability when used in the drying system. The standard provides requirements for establishing, managing and improving energy consumption and efficiency.
