Opis
Streszczenie:The present research work was carried out in the Poultry Campus of the Faculty of Animal Sciences of the Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo and had the purpose of evaluating the productive response of camper chickens fed with passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) residues as a substitute for the balanced feed in the fattening stage. Four treatments were performed with 5 replicates per treatment and 8 chickens per experimental unit in total 160 chickens were used. A completely random design was applied. For the determination of differences between treatments, Tukey´s multiple range test was used at 5% probability. The evaluated diets were a control (T0) and three levels of passion fruit residues: 3% (T1), 6% (T2) and 9% (T3). The variables were evaluated: weight gain (g), feed intake (g) and feed conversion, data were taken weekly. An economic analysis of each of the treatments was performed. Treatment T2 (6% of passion fruit cake) achieved the highest total weight gain with 2730.15 g and the best food conversion (3.08), while food consumption did not reach significance between treatments. The best benefit / cost ratios according to the economic analysis performed at each treatment were for T2 (6% of passion fruit residues) and T0. The use of 6% passion fruit residues as a supplement to the commercial balanced feed, is an alternative food option as raw material for the production of the system of raising camper chickens, which allows lower feed costs and maintain productive rates with the best results.
