Shrnutí:The raft is one of the most demanded timber species in the world for its high commercialization and productivity. Despite having a high production of seeds, it presents a great problem, the rapid loss of viability, therefore in vitro encapsulation is an option that allows the propagation of this species and the conservation for long periods of the plant material encapsulated in pearls of sodium alginate. Encapsulated plant material (balsa terminal buds) was obtained from sown plants and developed in the vegetable tissue culture laboratory of the State Technical University of Quevedo. The main benefit of using this plant material is that the contamination index is reduced in the explants. For the in vitro encapsulation or artificial balsa seed in the establishment phase, a semisolid Murashige and Skoog (MS) culture medium was used, the explants were placed in sodium alginate, with the help of a 100-1000μl micropipette was absorbed the explant with sodium alginate and dropped it into a calcium chloride solution, the reaction of sodium alginate with calcium chloride allowed the capsules to solidify, the longer the exposure time the more solid the capsule will be. Three treatments were applied (T1, T2, T3) in the establishment phase with times of 10, 20 and 30 minutes of exposure of the sodium alginate capsules in calcium chloride, being the T2 treatment (20 minutes), the best treatment. In the treatment (T2), 100% of germination of artificial seeds was registered and the best averages of growth, number of leaves and vigor of the seedlings were presented. For the multiplication phase, an MS culture medium supplemented with bensilaminopurine (BAP) was used in four different treatments (T1, T2, T3, T4) with different concentrations (0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1 mg L-1), in the treatment T1 (0.25 mg L-1), who gave better results in the length of the buds.
