| Sumari: | The present investigation was carried out in the Caluma canton of the province of Bolívar. It is located in the foothills of the Chimbo River, with the following objectives: To identify the commercialization channels used by orange producers, to determine in which sector Of the agro-commercial chain the farmer stops obtaining the sufficient income and that weakens its socioeconomic status and make a proposal for the improvement of the socioeconomic level of the orange producer of the study area. We used the descriptive, explanatory method, sources of primary and secondary research, the techniques of surveys and observation were used, asking questions in the economic, social and productive. On components of the household, quantity of oranges harvested per year, profitability of the orange and other income, forms of commercialization of the product, among others, the same ones that were tabulated and interpreted. Once the results were analyzed, it was concluded: The majority of the households of the orange producers (43.5%) of the communities under study are made up of 4 to 6 people, the same ones who help with harvesting the fruits at harvest time. Producers of orange in 84% have other income besides that obtained from orange, which use it only for food, as well as for other basic needs. The lack of maintenance in orange plantations that are not carried out by 71% of farmers prevents them from achieving profitable production, even though they have cultivated areas that exceed five hectares. As for the form of commercialization, 90% of the producers say that it does it for hundreds and not for lots, reason that their income is greater in that condition; However, most producers deliver their product to intermediaries (68%), because the sale is done immediately and safely, despite the fact that the price is low; Being the link where the producer loses usefulness in the marketing chain and therefore weakens its economic status. Therefore, it is proposed in brief an improvement in the maintenance of its cultivars, to create associations of producers that generate a marketing network (producer-supermarkets-final consumer) reducing to the maximum the participation of the intermediary |
