| Summary: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of phytopharmaceutical in the prevention of coccidiosis and effects on the productive behavior of the quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica), in addition to establishing the profitability of the treatments. The phytopharmaceutical was supplied in the drinking water at two different levels (10 and 20%). A completely randomized Design (DCA) was applied with four treatments and six repetitions. To determine differences estadístic as test was used Tukey (P≤0,05). 120 quail with two weeks of life were used, the investigation lasted 6 weeks Feed consumption (g), weight gain (g), feed conversion index, egg weight and size (g), as well as the percentage of mortality and profitability (%) were evaluated. The productive parameters were not affected by the supply of two levels of herbal medicine based on garlic (Allium sativum) and oregano (Origanum vulgare). Significant differences were observed in the characteristics of the egg , both in weight and transverse diameter, registering the highest egg weight T3 with 10% phytopharmaceutical (10 , 42g) and the lowest , T2 (9.22g). Regarding the transverse diameter, the best response was recorded by T3 (2.58). It was evidenced that the phytopharmaceutical is beneficial for the reduction of coccidiosis in quail, as well as a lower amount of fat in the carcass. However, the highest profitability was presented by the control treatment (22.03%). Keywords: prevention, parameters, garlic, oregano, fat |
