Beskrivelse
Summary:The province of Pastaza has experienced significant changes in recent decades due to increased agricultural activities and forest loss, posing the threat of accelerated biodiversity loss and landscape degradation. Focusing on this scenario, the present research focused on carrying out a multi-temporal study of land use change, plant distribution patterns and their conservation status in the province. In which a loss of vegetation cover of 3.40% and an increase in activities destined for agriculture and livestock of 2.99% could be seen, these changes have direct implications on the structure of ecosystems, the loss of natural habitats and the landscape fragmentation. In addition, it was possible to identify that the province has 17230 records of reported plants and 6031 identified species, where it can be noted that there is a large number of species that are not yet documented, due to the lack of studies or sampling biases. Regarding SNAP, it was observed that 10% of the species analyzed are found within protected areas. Regarding the IUCN conservation categories, it was found that 30.7% of the species studied are classified as Least Concern (LC), while 0.71% are considered Endangered (EN), and 2.04% as Vulnerable (VU). Notably, 64.44% of the species evaluated are not considered in the IUCN database. Given this panorama, it is suggested to carry out additional research that addresses the loss of vegetation cover and changes in land use, promote sustainable agricultural practices to reduce pressure on ecosystems, strengthen the management of protected areas and guarantee the conservation of species.
