| Summary: | In this research, the general objective was to evaluate the levels of non-ionizing radiation and its impact on the communities surrounding the electric power subtransmission lines in the Babahoyo canton, as specific targets were determined the non-ionizing radiation levels produced by the lines of electric power subtransmision, for this, the citizen's perception of the effects caused by the non-ionizing radiation of the energy subtransmission lines was established and an awareness plan was proposed about the effects caused by the non-ionizing radiations produced by the power lines. Electric subtransmission. For the determination of non-ionizing radiation levels, measurements were made in four distribution substations: Industrial Center, INPAECSA, Paseo Shopping Babahoyo and Terminal Terreste, for which the company Dproinsa SA was contracted, the results obtained were compared with the permissible levels of the Standard of Non-ionizing Radiations of Electromagnetic Fields, obtaining lower values than those stated in the standard. Information was obtained on the socioeconomic situation of the communities that are under the influence of the electric transmission networks, by means of surveys according to the size of the sample determined by the formula of George Canavos. Interviews were also carried out with inhabitants of sectors where there are no energy sub-transmission lines, with this information a proposal was made to raise awareness about the effects caused by these networks.
