Sumario:The research was conducted in the area of colony 24 de Mayo, located in the canton Buena fe, Province of Los Ríos - Ecuador. Ran a comparative analysis of the production, marketing and profitability National Cocoa and cocoa CCN-51, in cultures established in the study area. It took 15 producers of each variety of cocoa, who answered a survey based on applying management system, throwing averages of surface data, age and annual production of each crop. Surveys were also conducted at commercial houses where farmers sell their product selected, allowing us to identify the marketing channels that exist in the study area and knowing the price given for the product as sold. Stating that at this stage there is no variation marketing of cocoa quality product, that is, there is no difference in the price of the two varieties, stressing that are different in their organoleptic characteristics presented. This research allowed us to identify the marketing channels, which are also being conducted surveys the last link in the chain, who are the exporters. It should be noted that at this stage of the marketing of cocoa, if greater care, handling and different prices, ranging from the quality of cocoa to be delivered. Economic evaluation was established through the cost / benefit ratio, which was our economic indicator for the profitability of each crop. Proving that both crops are feasible and profitable, but with much difference in profit for each crop, stressing that this depends on the operating system, but without neglecting the quality discrepancy that each presents. The investigation allowed us to know the real factors that each producer has its cultivation by variety. For National cocoa farming, orchards of the producer do it for tradition and hope that one day the difference in prices according to the quality characteristic of this variety of cacao, while the cultivation of cacao CCN -51, obviously, because it is a variety that has higher returns in less time. Proving that compared to these crops and according to its characteristics, the balance would be quality vs performance
