סיכום:This research was conducted from February to June 2008 in the Laboratory of the Department of Seed Production of the Experimental Station of Tropical Pichilingue INIAP, located in the 5 km route Quevedo - El Empalme, Province Los Rios Quevedo Canton, under the coordinates 79 º 25 'West Longitude and 1 6' South Latitude. With an average temperature of 24.3 º C, relative humidity 87%, and average annual rainfall of 2252.2 mm, the soils are sandy loam with a pH of 6.5 to 7.0. The objective was to evaluate the physiological quality of rice seed based on the harvest season. Get the best time to harvest for the production of quality seeds. Set the grain moisture level to obtain quality seeds. Assess the viability and vigor of the seed, depending on the harvest season. As planting material was used rice seed-16 Bowling INIAP. The treatments consisted of six harvest times (25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 days after flowering, DAF). Experimental design was used Randomized Complete Block (RCB) with three replications, using the Tukey test at 95% of pro validity for comparison of means. Variables were evaluated: moisture content of seeds, grain yield, volume, weight of 1000 seeds, germination first count, standard germination, cold test, electrical conductivity, field emergence and emergence speed index. It was concluded that the moisture content of seed was higher in early harvest 25 days after flowering (daf) 12% more than those harvested at 40 (ddf), while the volumetric weight was not affected significantly when forward or delay the harvest is observed that the standard germination, first count germination, electrical conductivity, seedling emergence showed negative effects with delayed harvest, it was determined that the physiological quality of seeds was better when harvested between 25 and ddf 30. The cold test, determining that the 25 ddf crops have high germination rates decline as harvest is delayed. And the delay in harvest contributed to increasing deterioration of the seeds in the field.
