In many cases premature births occur because of problems with the mother where it is necessary to terminate the pregnancy to avoid serious complications in the mother or fetus; in others happen spontaneously and are characterized by certain changes occur as bleeding, uterine contractions early. Most of the time preterm labor I have no previous symptoms more often than not the patient initiate uterine contractions in a systematic and progressive, if this occurs before 37 weeks, the risk of premature birth is very high. Patients with a history of premature son or with risk factors in the current pregnancy, may undergo an ultrasound of the cervix, which allows to estimate the odds of preterm birth occurs.
