| Summary: | This research project entitled “Performance of Shared Dynamic Spectrum in High Traffic Density Scenarios” analyzes the impact of the rapid growth of mobile networks on the demand for radio frequency spectrum, highlighting Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS), a technology that enables the simultaneous coexistence of 4G LTE and 5G NR within the same frequency bands. DSS allows a gradual transition between technological generations without the need to reallocate exclusive spectrum for each network. This study evaluates the performance of DSS in high traffic density scenarios through simulations in OMNeT++, using the Simu5G and INET tools to model networks under a Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) scheme. The results show that DSS improves spectrum utilization efficiency and enables the deployment of 5G networks on low bands, extending coverage without affecting the continuity of existing LTE services. However, its implementation presents technical challenges such as signal interference and signaling overload, which may limit the overall capacity of the network. Despite these difficulties, DSS is positioned as a viable solution for operators looking to modernize infrastructures without acquiring new spectrum, offering a flexible and efficient transition. The findings of this research confirm that DSS is key to the evolution of telecommunications, enabling intelligent spectrum management and ensuring the continuity of advanced mobile services. |
