Samenvatting:The main objective of this educational development project is to analyze innovative didactic strategies, and their impact on the reading comprehension of students from the Digna Beatriz Cerda Neto Educational Unit, of the Pujilí Canton, school period 2021-2022. The use of innovative didactic strategies allows strengthening the conceptual contents, from its use, the student is able to build quality learning applicable to the current reality in which education and society in general develops. The methodology used is exploratory-descriptive research with a qualitative-quantitative approach, documentary, bibliographical and field research modality, through direct observation, interviews and a Likert-type survey, with a semi-structured questionnaire to 5 teachers from the institution under study. It is considered essential to carry out the teacher training workshop, with innovative didactic strategies for reading comprehension, aimed at updating teachers' knowledge and providing meaningful learning, where students are enriched with innovative techniques that will allow the understanding of the different texts and acquire an interest in strengthening their reading comprehension and academic performance. The results obtained in the research project showed that after the instruction, the teachers made their classes more participatory, playful and creative, improving the reading comprehension of the students, obtaining a higher score in all areas of knowledge. Due to the above, instruction in the use of didactic strategies is recommended and thus favor the formation of competent readers for society
