| Тойм: | The generation of municipal solid waste (MSW) is one of the topics of great analysis at present, as it has been detected as one of the main factors of pollution to the environment. Therefore, this study was developed in order to optimize the integrated management of municipal solid waste in the parish of El Corazón, Cantón Pangua, through a diagnosis, characterization of MSW, design of routes and implementation of sustainable proposals. The survey and interview technique was used, as well as 58 MSW samples were collected to determine the Per Capita Production PPC, density and percentage. In addition, using ArcGIS software, routes were designed under a selective collection model. After analyzing the results, it was found that 36,17% of the population considers that solid waste management in the parish of El Corazón is bad, as opposed to 31,21% who mentioned that it is good; however, 25,18% indicated that it is regular. The quantification of the waste generated showed an average (PPC) and density of 0,44 kg/hab/day and 104,57 kg/m3, indicating that most of the waste is organic with 62,34%, followed by paper and plastic bags with 4,07% and 3,91%, respectively. Based on these results, collection routes were designed for organic and inorganic waste; the first model for organic waste will have a travel time of 02h45 minutes and a distance of 9,3 km, and the second model for inorganic waste will have a travel time of 03h10 minutes with a total distance of 9,2 km. It can be concluded that there is a deficit in compliance with the solid waste management phases, which justifies the development of the improvement proposals contained in this research.
