Sumario:The project aims to evaluate the ethnobotanical use of medicinal plants in the city of Quevedo and areas of influence, 100 interviews were conducted aimed at the inhabitants where it was evaluated: name of the plant, disease, part of the plant used, preparation, preparation details and route of administration. Use value index (IVU), relative knowledge of the species per informant (RVU) and significant level of use Tramil (UST) were calculated. 52 species distributed in 47 genera and 30 families were registered. The Lamiaceae family obtained a greater number of medicinal plants in the study area. The species most frequently in the project was Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f., followed by: Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng, Ruta sp. and Mentha spicata L. People with greater knowledge of the use of medicinal plants are between 40 and 60 years old. Gastrointestinal diseases are the most treated with medicinal plants, the most commonly used part of the plant was the leaf, the preparation most frequently used was cooking and drinking administration. The species with the highest IVU, RVU and UST were: Aloe vera (L.) Burm.f. the most important species, followed by Plectranthus amboinicus (Lour.) Spreng., Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf., Mentha spicata L., Bryophyllum pinnatum (Lam.) Oken., Zingiber officinale Roscoe and Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Render A brochure (recipe book) was created where, in addition to showing the use, preparation and application of medicinal plants for different types of diseases, it also shows information such as the scientific name of the plant, its family, characteristics, part of the plant that is used, disease in which it is used and the mode of preparation. In the recipe book, 35 species of medicinal use were taken into account, of which 52 were obtained in the surveys carried out, which proved to be the most used and recognized by the inhabitants in the study area. With all the information obtained, a socialization program was carried out in the educational unit “Los Guayacanes” in order to rescue the ancestral ethnobotanical knowledge of medicinal plants for the treatment of diseases.
