| Summary: | Basic education in Ecuador shows high levels of stress and social inequalities that hinder the teaching-educational process. In this way, it is evident that a correct education is necessary to facilitate skills and competencies that train the student in the emotional domain, and its expression in society. Regarding the design of the curriculum of the initial stage in Ecuador, there is no widespread practice that contains the need for children to learn and develop. Aspects such as protection and affection, participation or interaction with other equals in a harmonious coexistence are also not included. The objective of the study was to develop an emotional education program to influence the improvement of the academic performance of students in the fifth year of basic general education. The research carried out classified as applied. The research context was from the Otto Arosemena Gómez Basic Education School, Quevedo cantón, Los Ríos province, and the subjects analyzed were fifth grade teachers. To obtain results, methods were applied at the theoretical and empirical levels, mainly the survey and the criteria of specialists. As the main result, an emotional education program was designed for the teachers involved. The program consists of six work sessions and academic performance is approached in a transversal way. The program was evaluated based on the criteria of specialists who agree on its relevance and need. The main recommendation was to implement the proposed program in the aforementioned institution |
