Shrnutí:Acute appendicitis is a pathology that constitutes inflammation of the cecal appendix, typifies emergency surgical care and in most cases occurs in children and adolescents. Among the most frequent causes are obstruction of the lumen of the organ, parasitic infection or diseases that cause an increase in the intraluminal lumen of the colon, carcinoid tumor, volvulus of the appendix and trauma. It presents with pain, hyperthermia and gastrointestinal symptoms. The case of an 11-year-old male pediatric patient who went to the emergency service accompanied by his mother after being referred from another care home is presented. After cephalocaudal observation and implementation of complementary tests, complicated acute appendicitis was diagnosed, which was corrected by surgical intervention (appendectomy) and an individualized nursing care plan was carried out according to the altered needs that were identified in the patient, prioritizing the order of the diagnoses, to then establish the objectives that were achieved. The purpose of this case study was to implement nursing care successfully in a post-surgical pediatric patient after an appendectomy. Among the objectives achieved were the following: assess the patient's clinical condition in a comprehensive manner to obtain better therapeutic results, guaranteeing a safe, implement the 14 needs of Virginia Henderson in the nursing assessment which allowed the identification of altered needs and the provision of individualized and quality care. In addition to evaluating the effectiveness of nursing care to achieve optimal results and guarantee a successful recovery. Once the care plan was executed, the patient's favorable recovery was observed, highlighting the importance of applying focused care with the constant need to improve and adapt nursing practices on an individualized basis.
