Efecto de la calidad de sitio forestal en el incremento medio anual de Ochroma Pyramidale (balsa), Provincia de Manabí, año 2015. Propuesta de reforestación

Historically, Ecuador has been one of the countries that has provided high percentages of balsa wood to the international market. The raft, for its rapid growth, is a species of interest to many farmers looking to get short-term income through plantations of balsa. This species is planted in several provinces of Ecuador, especially in areas of foothills in the Amazon and the Ecuadorian Coast. However, precise data are not available on the growth of the raft in the province of Manabi. Within this context, this study aimed at evaluating the mean annual increment (MAI) of Ochroma pyramidale (balsa) in three localities of the province of Manabi was raised and established the alternative hypothesis that the quality of the sites if affect the growth of O. pyramidale. To test the hypothesis growth variables in diameter and height of the raft were measured, and based on these measurements the IMA of each variable is determined for each of the three study sites. Among the results highlighted the fact that the best overall height was average for the site 1 corresponding to the parish San Placido, just for the DAP at an average of 22.5 cm; with respect to the best place basal area was 21.4 m2 barraganete with you, the IMA for DAP remains San Placido the average better and better IMA 5.64 cm in height 4.25 m. In addition, a proposal was developed with reforestation raft fastest growing sites in the province of Manabi.
