总结:In this paper we developed the design and construction of a cantilever type fatigue machine for the Mechanical Engineering laboratory of the Quevedo State Technical University with the implementation of steel tests under the AISI 4140 standard, based on the need of teachers and students to perform fatigue tests. For the previous design of the machine, initial parameters were determined as correction factors and guidelines of the ASTM E466 standard in addition to the stress to which a material can be subjected. The calculations of each element were performed by the analytical method and by using programs such as SolidWorks and MDSolids, force application verification tests were performed. Then, at that point, the development and joining of these parts through assembly processes was continued. Fatigue tests were carried out, taking into account that, depending on the applied load, the corresponding cycles in which the failure occurred or the test was terminated were recorded. The tests were performed at room temperature with an examination of the information acquired by the ASTM E739 standard to determine the fatigue resistance equation, the fatigue resistance limit and to frame the stress vs. logarithm of cycles (S-log N) diagram. It was determined that the maximum load at which the machine can operate is 500 N and that tentatively the fatigue strength limit of quenched and tempered AISI 4140 steel is approximately 513 MPa, contrasted and the hypothesis has a 1.99% error.
