Descripción
Summary:This study analyzed the feasibility of implementing digital sensors for water resource monitoring in the Quevedo Canton, with the goal of addressing challenges related to water quality and distribution. The study evaluated public perceptions of the proposed technology, as well as the socioeconomic feasibility of its implementation for local Development. Currenty, the water rate in Quevedo is $4.00 per month, however, the quality of service is poor. The implementation of digital sensors would allow for higher-quality service with a flat rate of $8.00 per month that citizens are willing to pay. This technology represents a strategic tool to mitigate the effects of ongoing climate change and promote efficient water use. The challenge lies in the urgency of optimizing water use and ensuring its longterm availability in the face of population growth and climate change. By installing digital water monitoring sensors, the goa is to obtain detailed information on the use and conditions of water resources, enabling fair and equitable management. The general objective is to analyze how these technologies can influence water sustainability and the local economy by offering suggestions that strengthen water governance. This research proposal will be developed in 2024, with a theoretical approach that can be used to create public policies in the Quevedo Canton, promoting better water management in the face of current environmental challenges.
