| Sumari: | The present research project aims to evaluate the germination and initial growth of Tectona grandis L.f. (Teak) and Gmelina arborea Roxb. (Melina) with two types of substrates and two types of bioles, and for this a Completely Random Design in factorial arrangement AXB + 1 was used with 5 treatments, 3 repetitions, the first treatment contains the substrate 1 + simple biol 1 (tamo of rice + sifted soil + and charcoal) the second treatment contains substrate 1 + simple biol (rice chaff + sifted soil + and charcoal), third treatment the substrate 2 + simple biol 1 (compound) (sowing soil and flour of rock), fourth treatment substrate 2 + compound biol 2 (sowing soil and rock flour), the data obtained were recorded from germination until day 60. After obtaining the data, the comparison of means of interactions was carried out. with Tukey's test (p <0.05). The main effects of the factors were compared with previously established orthogonal contrasts. For the corresponding analyzes, they were carried out using the PROC GLIMMIX procedure of SAS University Edition. In the results in the species Tectona grandis L.f. that showed better results are substrate 2 and biol 2 composed of 14.51 cm height, 0.2383 cm stem diameter and 10.48 number of leaves, however the Gmelina arborea Roxb species. in the factors that obtained an optimal development is the substrate 2 biol 1 simple in the variables height 47.26 cm, stem diameter 0.38 cm and in number of leaves 13.96.
