Sumari:This research examines the links between public order and citizen security in the 24 de Mayo parish of Quevedo Canton in 2023. The main objective was to evaluate the impact of public policies on citizen security and public order in the 24 de Mayo parish. The study used a mixed methodology that incorporates qualitative and quantitative techniques, including structured surveys, in-depth interviews with local residents, direct observation of community dynamics, and analysis of statistical data on crime incidents and security issues in the area. The results show a predominantly negative perception of the effectiveness of security policies in the 24 de Mayo parish. Sixty percent of respondents believe that these strategies have not improved security or public order, reflecting a widespread distrust of local authorities. Furthermore, 60% indicated that institutional communication is deficient and that there is a low level of citizen inclusion in the design and implementation of policies. Although the structural causes of the problem are recognized and preventive and participatory actions are being promoted, a gap persists between official initiatives and community perception, which requires a review of current strategies. It is concluded that security in the 24 de Mayo parish presents a multidimensional challenge, aggravated by social factors and a disconnect between public policies and citizen perception. This requires continually reviewing strategies, strengthening community participation, and ensuring effective institutional evaluation and communication mechanisms.
