Description
Summary:Given the alarming increase in road accidents worldwide, road safety has become a primary concern. In Ecuador, the situation is no exception; every day, events occur on the roads that endanger people's lives and even cause deaths. These incidents generate high costs for public health, without considering the material damage and economic losses. This research work focuses on estimating trends in road traffic crashes in Ecuador in order to analyze their causes and discover hidden patterns. Data mining and statistical analysis techniques are applied to examine the common factors that influence these incidents. Using a geospatial approach, the study segments and classifies high-risk areas, using clustering algorithms based on the incidence of various types of road accidents. Several algorithms were applied for the prediction model, including Forest Random, which stands out for its low quadratic error. The results indicate a high concentration of accidents in certain provinces, especially during weekends.Motorcycles and automobiles emerge as the most affected due to the lack of safety measures when driving. This tool is a valuable resource for the entities in charge, guiding them towards actions focused on the prevention and mitigation of accidents in order to safeguard the road safety of the population.
