Summary:The management strategy is a decision-making procedure to be applied to a certain scenario, to achieve one or several previously defined objectives. This research was developed at the Quevedo General Hospital of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS), with the objective of evaluating the management strategy in the storage process of medicines, supplies and medical devices of this entity. The type of research used for the collection of information was documentary and field, divided into three phases respectively, in the first the technique of observation and review of the organizational structure in the general warehouse area was used, through on-site visits; In the second, an interview was applied to the administrative director of the institution and in the third, the survey technique was applied to both the area leaders and the users. The results obtained made it possible to show that there are some shortcomings, mainly in the storage management of medical implements and products, because the institution's central warehouse has insufficient space for this purpose, due to which it maintains 13 improvised, scattered and isolated areas. on the other, difficulties appearing in the practice of storage of pharmaceutical products and non-compliance with the requirements established in the standard of Good Storage Practices (BPA) established in the Manual of Processes for Pharmaceutical Management of the IESS, the Manual of Procedures for Ecuador's Medical Device Supply Management based on international health policies. It is concluded that the construction of a new warehouse for the adequate storage of pharmaceutical products is important, as well as; enhance training for health professionals, in order to comply with the indicated BPA.
