| Summary: | The study, "Factors affecting malnutrition in children under five years of Venus Health Center Quevedo, province of Los Ríos, 2013", is a project that determined the causes and consequences of malnutrition children, socio- economic factors that affect directly and indirectly in malnutrition of children, and what preventive measures are taken to eradicate malnutrition in the sector. The information obtained from the surveys showed that there is 67 % of children diagnosed with malnutrition, finding main factors: low income for insufficient wages, which leads to a regular feeding of nutritious food and also performed solo 2 daily meals; another factor is the lack of knowledge of mothers on what diseases produce poor diet with 54%; Another important factor is that 52% of children are not breastfed by their mothers at least until the first year of age, half the population of children not receiving breast milk regarded as an essential nutrient for normal development and growth children. In relation to childcare, it was determined that 57% of mothers do not go to the health center for weight and height of their children and this is added, 58% say the government if it helps to reduce malnutrition child through food supplements, which are not used by infants. Finally, children in their early life, have basic needs such as good nutrition and control of nutritional status, for optimal physical and intellectual development, therefore it becomes a call to raise awareness and take action necessary to ensure the welfare and success of future generations. |
