Shrnutí:A chronic wound is an injury that causes damage to the skin, since it interrupts its integrity or continuity; Furthermore, due to its prolonged healing process, the presence of infection is recurrent, and can reach critical levels that require amputation; In this context, the main objective of this case study is to design a nursing care process based on the Marjory Gordon model in a patient with a chronic foot wound caused by a traffic accident, aimed at preventing complications and Improving the quality of life. As specific objectives, the patient's history, signs and symptoms were identified using the functional pattern assessment model, priority nursing diagnoses were determined based on the altered functional patterns and nursing interventions were developed, evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions aimed at prevent complications. The nursing approach was oriented towards interventions such as: wound healing, pain management and immobilization of the affected limb; achieving recovery of the affected area and as a fundamental part of the nursing care process, it was directed towards patient education for the care and management of wounds; Follow-up through home visits and referral to the health unit close to the home for continuity of health services was fundamentally recommended; Furthermore, it is essential to continuously train caregivers for the correct management of wounds based on updated, scientific information, avoiding empiricism.
