Description
Summary:A submandibular abscess of traumatic origin is a localized infection that develops in the submandibular space, an anatomical region located below the mandible, as a consequence of an injury or trauma in that area. The purpose of this case study was to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing intervention in the management of a pediatric patient with submaxillary abscess of traumatic origin, analyzing its impact on recovery and clinical outcomes. The patient was a 5-year-old female pediatric patient, who was admitted to a hospital unit with a diagnosis of submaxillary abscess, due to trauma to her face as a result of a fall. The patient had no history of pathology, and her general health and development were within normal parameters for her age. Inflammation and infection in the submaxillary region manifested with pain and redness. After clinical evaluation and diagnostic tests, the diagnosis of submaxillary cellulitis was confirmed. The patient was admitted to the inpatient area for further treatment and nursing care. The patient responded well to pharmacological treatment and nursing care and was discharged from the hospital.
