The purpose of this case study was to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing intervention in the management of a pediatric patient with submaxillary abscess of traumatic origin, analyzing its impact on recovery and clinical outcomes. The patient was a 5-year-old female pediatric patient, who was admitted to a hospital unit with a diagnosis of submaxillary abscess, due to trauma to her face as a result of a fall. The patient had no history of pathology, and her general health and development were within normal parameters for her age. Inflammation and infection in the submaxillary region manifested with pain and redness. After clinical evaluation and diagnostic tests, the diagnosis of submaxillary cellulitis was confirmed. The patient was admitted to the inpatient area for further treatment and nursing care. The patient responded well to pharmacological treatment and nursing care and was discharged from the hospital. |

El presente estudio de caso, tuvo como finalidad evaluar la efectividad de la intervención de enfermería en el manejo de un paciente pediátrico con absceso submaxilar de origen traumático, analizando su impacto en la recuperación y resultados clínicos. Se trató de una paciente pediátrica de sexo femenino de 5 años, quien fue ingresada a una unidad hospitalaria con el diagnóstico de absceso submaxilar, debido a un traumatismo en su cara producto de una caída. La paciente no presentó antecedentes patológicos, y su salud general y desarrollo estaban dentro de los parámetros normales para su edad. La inflamación y la infección en la región submaxilar se manifestaron con dolor y enrojecimiento. Tras una evaluación clínica y pruebas diagnósticas, se confirmó el diagnóstico de absceso submaxilar. La paciente fue ingresada al área de hospitalización para el posterior tratamiento y cuidados de enfermería.
