| Summary: | Banana has economic importance for society, the main problem is root deficiency as a consequence of damage by nematodes. An economical alternative is the use of organic rooting substances. This research was carried out on the Verónica farm in the Guayacanes enclosure, canton Buena Fe. In order to evaluate the efficacy of organic rooting agents on plantain plants (Musa AAB) and on nematode populations, the treatments were as follows: lentil rooting, cinnamon, rice husk, aloe vera gel, coconut water, Root Track, plus a control. A DBCA was used and an ANOVA and the 95% Tukey test were performed. The variables evaluated were: plant height, pseudostem circumference, length, number, fresh and dry weight of roots, percentage of healthy roots, population density of nematodes in roots. The Root track presented a higher percentage of healthy roots (85.67%), root length (74.49 cm), plant height at 20 and 40 days (49.94 cm and 60.45 cm), pseudostem circumference at 20 and 40 days (5.06 cm and 5.67 cm) number of roots (25.87 units) decreased populations of Helicotylenchus multicintus (-300), likewise coconut water reduced Pratylenchus spp (-420) Radopholus similis (-600) and cinnamon Meloidogyne spp (- 150), the aloe vera gel influenced the fresh and dry weight of the root with 195.13 g and 35.53 g. The different organic rooting agents provided an increase in the agronomic variables and demonstrated efficacy on the reduction of nematodes in the plants. |
