Description
Summary:The research was developed based on the need to address the high levels of state anxiety identified in Basic Education students at the Nicolás Infante Díaz Educational Unit, located in the canton of Buena Fe, who, according to the application of the STAI test, showed scores above the average. The general objective was to design a psycho-pedagogical program based on emotional intelligence to reduce anxiety levels in Basic Education students at the same institution. The methodology used was descriptive–propositional with a mixed approach, supported by an initial diagnosis through psychometric instruments and teacher validation, which allowed the design of a proposal structured into 20 sessions distributed over a 5-month period, with dynamic, accessible, and contextualized activities. The results showed that the initial diagnosis evidenced a predominance of state anxiety, associated with situations of academic pressure and difficulties in emotional self-regulation, which affected student participation and performance. Likewise, the validation of the proposal carried out by five specialists in clinical psychology, psycho-pedagogy, and educational guidance unanimously concluded that the program appropriately addressed the detected problem, presented clear and achievable objectives, integrated emotional intelligence as a central axis, included activities adapted to the students’ age, and proposed viable and realistic resources, in addition to formative and summative evaluation using the same psychometric instrument applied in the diagnosis. In conclusion, the research highlighted the relevance of emotional intelligence as an effective psycho-pedagogical tool to address state anxiety in adolescents, and the proposed program constituted a technical and applicable alternative that, if implemented, would significantly contribute to strengthening socio-emotional well-being and improving the school climate.
