| Summary: | Anemia in pregnant morbidity and mortality is a problem that affects both the mother and her child, can cause complications both perinatal and postnatal stages. Anemia is a decrease in hemoglobin concentration with a consequent reduction in the value of hematocrit. Due to the difference in hemoglobin levels between men and women, and also in pregnant and nonpregnant women, so there are variations in the range that defines anemia. There is sufficient evidence that iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women increases the risk of premature birth and low birth weight. The purpose of this research is to determine the incidence and causes of cases of pregnant women diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia who come to SubCentro Paradise in Santo Domino, in the outpatient department under this presumptive diagnosis and evaluated clinically it obtained as instruments sheet collection data, thorough history and assessment of additional tests. The methodology was cross-sectional, descriptive, explanatory, literature, non-experimental, prospective design type. Its results will allow to know the predisposing causes iron-deficiency anemia, the consequences for the mother and the fetus, and propose an alternative solution to the problem to prevent this disease and contribute to the reduction of cases and thus promote the reduction maternal morbidity and mortality - fetal.
