Riassunto:Water supply systems are born as a response to sectoral and social problems that alter the quality of water, causing negative impacts on this indispensable life resource; in addition, inefficiency in drinking water treatment systems has become a problem of morbidity and mortality. The objective of this research was to evaluate the water security of the Junta de Agua Potable "Colonia 24 de Mayo", Buena Fe canton, Los Ríos province. An interview was conducted with the president, and 57 surveys of users of the Junta de Agua Potable were analyzed by validation of Cronbach's Alpha and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for the diagnosis. Eight visits were made in which a water sample was taken for each stage of the supply system (catchment, storage, consumption), then physicochemical variables were analyzed by applying the WQI NSF and a nonparametric ANOVA for the identification of hazards and risks. According to Cronbach's Alpha, one question did not meet the reliability value greater than 0.70, and the PCA obtained a grouping of four rotated components; where, most users had positively correlated responses in the organoleptic quality of water, board directive performance and water treatment, while in digestive diseases they had responses with negative correlation.
