Yhteenveto:This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Manchester Triage Management System implemented at Hospital General Quevedo (IESS), located in Quevedo, Los Ríos. It arises as a response to the dissatisfaction by users, expressed through complaints about prolonged waiting times, failures in the prioritization of cases, lack of privacy and lack of empathy in the attention received. To conduct the research, descriptive, exploratory, field and documentary methods were used, using techniques such as observation, interviews and surveys. The results of the survey of 367 people (60% women and 40% men) revealed that 48% of external users expressed their dissatisfaction with the quality of the service. As for the survey of five internal users, 10% noted that the Manchester Selection System has had no impact on its performance. Following the observation and interview with the Nursing Leader, the lack of privacy, empathy, long waiting periods and deficiencies in staff-specific training were identified as the service's main concerns. The analysis of the triage scale revealed significant delays in priorities 3 and 4, reaching up to six hours. These findings highlight operational problems in the use of the Selection System, suggesting the implementation of measures such as guaranteeing privacy, training programmes to improve empathy and communication, changes to internal protocols to reduce delay and professional development of staff.
