Resumo:The purpose of the research was to present the current situation of the municipal district of Quevedo, the flow of cattle and pork slaughtering, an activity that undoubtedly generates contamination of the abiotic factors (water, air and soil) and its social impact in the surrounding area. When making a diagnosis on the physical, operational and sanitary characteristics through a risk assessment, and identification of the pollutants that require a priority attention in the municipal camal of the canton Quevedo, where a total of 45 cattle and 40 porcines enter daily in corral. the study included aspects of risk assessment and sanitary conditions of the municipal district. slaughterhouses (municipal camal) consists of inspection of the antemorten examination that indicates that an animal is not fit to be slaughtered and takes place within a period of no more than 12 hours before slaughter. The evaluation of the fishing process and its main risks are carried out until after slaughter and postmortem inspection. This inspection is carried out by a veterinarian who indicates by means of report whether the meat is fit for human consumption. The solid or liquid waste that results from the work of fishing causes daily environmental contamination because these waters pass directly to the river Quevedo through channels without receiving any previous treatment. The Leopold matrix allows to conclude that the degree of environmental contamination is severe, with a value for aggregation of impacts of -256; positive impacts 19 (related to consumer health and employment generation) and negative impacts 71, being the most representative the quality and consumption of water, aquatic ecosystem (river) followed by job security and bad smells. It is recommended to locate the municipal road of the canton Quevedo in an area further away from urban centers and whose facilities comply with current environmental regulations.
