Caracterización de los residuos sólidos domiciliarios en la parroquia rural Guasaganda del cantón la Maná, provincia Cotopaxi

The present work of the research project is focused on establishing the characterization of the household solid waste generated in the Guasaganda parish of Cantón La Maná. In this process, a sample of 350 inhabitants was established for the application of the survey, it was designed in order to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, practice, moral obligations and government policies towards the reduction of solid waste in this sector. Seventy households were given five bags with their respective label and house number to avoid any confusion, so that they could separate each waste generated daily, it consisted of the following: organic, glass, metal, plastic and paper / cardboard as follows. two weeks long (Monday to Sunday). According to the total classification of solid waste made in the two weeks of sampling; The most generated waste is organic waste with 1354.45 kg (80.30%), the second waste is plastic with 162.74 kg which represented (7.51%), while the paper / cardboard waste with 123.87 kg (7.34%), as well as the glass residue with 32.36 kg which represented (2.51%), and the least generated residue is metal with 39.40 kg in (2.34%). This proposal seeks to take into account the segregation and adequate storage of solid waste in the canton by proposing to the community the use of containers according to the type of waste in the different areas of the parish.
