Sammanfattning:The work was carried out at the "Humberto Moreira Márquez" Educational Unit located in the Ventanas parish of the Ventanas canton, Los Ríos province. High school students have problems in understanding the reading of the texts treated in the classrooms. The main objective of this project has been to determine thinking-based learning and whether it affects reading comprehension. For the characterization of the project, we started from the delimitation of the study area, while the techniques were applied of surveys and as an instrument the questionnaire, the population was made up of 59 students and 14 teachers. The results of the diagnosis of the current reading comprehension in the students showed that 71.43% do not identify the main and secondary ideas, 92.86% do not develop a good command of vocabulary, 79.66% do not feel motivated to attend classes, 79.66% like it read minimally, 81.36% prefer digital information over reading in printed books, 100% consider that they have little reading comprehension. Regarding teachers, 71.19% minimally promotes motivation in learning, 77.97% little promotes the development of reasoning in the student, 85.71% does not receive training on didactic innovation, 71.43% is not willing to apply strategies to improve capacity reading in students. These analyzes made it possible to establish the conclusions and recommendations in relation to the application of the Reading Plan called in which the activities to be implemented are detailed in order to develop thinking-based learning to improve reading comprehension.
