Zusammenfassung:The study evaluates the efficiency of two natural coagulants (Moringa and Tamarindo) in the wastewater treatment process of the Esmeralda banana packing plant in the Mocache canton. For this, the research was divided into three phases: (i) diagnosis of the use of washing water in banana packing plants, (ii) evaluation of the effectiveness of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) and Tamarind (Tamarindus indica) as natural coagulants, and ( iii) determination of the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of the use of natural coagulants in the treatment of wastewater from banana packing plants. The residual water samples were taken in the discharge area of the Empacadora Esmeraldas, through the use of containers of 500 ml capacity. The methodological procedure to work consisted of: (i) carrying out a situational diagnosis of the use of banana washing water, by identifying aspects such as: washing water source, ways of rationalization, consumption (m3 / s), storage, final disposal of water; (ii) measurement of the efficiency of Moringa oleífera and Tamarindus indica as natural coagulants, for which two physical-chemical analyzes of the water were carried out (pre-treatment and post-treatment), obtaining the extracts of the coagulants, application of the dosage and efficiency evaluation; (iii) determination of the technical, economic and environmental viability of the use of natural coagulants in wastewater treatment. As a result of the investigation, the efficiency level of M. oleifera and T. indica as natural coagulants and the viability in the use of said agents for the treatment of wastewater in banana packing plants were obtained. Keywords: waste water, natural coagulant, banana packing, moringa, tamarind, water treatment.
