Add Tag | Summary: | This project takes as a reference a relevant characteristic of the province of Los Ríos, such as the activities that include agriculture, based on this idea it is considered that one of the products with the highest demand currently in this province is balsa wood, therefore the main objective of this paper focuses on the design and construction of an efficient machine used in balsa wood processing plants. For the execution of this idea, several stages involved in the processing of this wood were evaluated, and through conversations with expert personnel in the area, it was decided to design and build a balsa sheet cutting machine for the fodder of light means of transport, thus the programmed planning was started adopting pertinent methodologies for the design phases of a product. The adopted methodology allowed the evaluation of elements, selection of alternatives and their respective calculation prior to the design stage, resulting in the definition of each of the modules that make up the machine. The proposed design consists of 3 modules, two of which are composed of transmission and transformation mechanisms. For this stage, engineering software such as CES Edupack was used for the selection of materials and Autodesk Inventor - Nastran for the modeling, simulation and preparation of drawings. The proposal was presented to MAINDUSTRIAS S.A., a company dedicated to the construction and maintenance of balsa wood equipment. The construction of the proposed machine, sponsored by the aforementioned company, was carried out, and after that the pertinent tests were performed to verify the correct operation of the machine, and to evaluate the quality of the final product (curved contour sheets) achieving as a result a production capacity of 80 (sheets)/hour and detailing the cost of valuation of the machine.
