Gaia:This research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the diversity, structure and concentration of carbon in the evergreen montane forest of the Center for Postgraduate Research and Amazon Conservation "CIPCA", of the Amazonian State University in the altitude gradient of 900-1000 mamsl. The data of this research were taken in permanent sampling plots of 10 x 100 m between 901 and 1000 mamsl established in a previous study, within the framework of the Project “Biodiversity and Carbon in the Piatúa River Basin”. Through these data, the existence of a total of 274 individuals of trees with DBH ≥ 10 cm was determined, making up 34 families and 96 species; with a basal area of 12.93 m2 and a volume of 157.06 m3 . At a general level, the family that presented the greatest diversity of species was Moraceae with 17 species that represents 17.71% of the total. Arecaceae (13.36%) and Iriartea deltoidea (7.21%) were the family and species with the highest IVI value recorded. For the analysis of the horizontal and vertical structure, DBH data and diameter of the projection of the tree canopy were considered, using ArcGis v 10.2.2. the graph of the horizontal and vertical profiles was made. The accumulated aerial biomass (AGB) by the species in the altitudinal gradient is reflected in a total average of 125.75 Mg ha-1 , a value that projected to accumulation of carbon per hectare reflects a total of 1257.47 Mg ha-1 . The species with the highest accumulation of aerial biomass is Nectandra sp, with only 7 individuals registering an AGB of 279.99 Mg ha-1 . Keywords: Diversity, structure, carbon concentration.
