| description | The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of the edaphic application of phosphorus and zeolite on black pod (Phytophthora palmivora) and monilla (Moniliphthora roreri) diseases in cocoa cultivation. The trial was carried out at the "La María" Campus of the Quevedo State Technical University. Four treatments were evaluated: T1: 25% P + Zeoter-A; T2: 50% P + Zeoter-A; T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A and T4: 100% P (Control), under a randomized complete block design with three repetitions. The results reflected that the treatments did not influence the productive response of the cocoa crop, except for the number of pods, healthy pods and healthy cherels, in which T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A, presented higher averages, while T4: 100% P (Control) registered a greater number of sick cherels. The application of phosphorus plus zeolite did not significantly influence both the incidence and the severity of M. roreri and P. palmivora, however, there was greater efficiency for the control of M. roreri with T2: 50% P + Zeoter- A, while for P. palmivora, T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A was more effective. Finally, from the economic point of view, the application of T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A, by producing a higher yield (32.88 kg), and in turn registered efficacy for the control of P. palmivora and M. roreri, allowed obtaining a greater economic benefit, with a B/C ratio of 1.38, with a profitability of 37.51%. |

El ensayo se realizó en el Campus “La María” de la Universidad Técnica Estatal de Quevedo. Se evaluaron cuatro tratamientos: T1: 25% P + Zeoter-A; T2: 50% P + Zeoter-A; T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A y T4: 100% P (Testigo), bajo un diseño de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones. Los resultados reflejaron que los tratamientos no influyeron en la respuesta productiva del cultivo de cacao, a excepción del número de mazorcas, mazorcas sanas y chereles sanos, en las que T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A, presentó mayores promedios, mientras que T4: 100% P (Control) registró mayor número de chereles enfermos. La aplicación de fósforo más zeolita, no influyó significativamente tanto en la incidencia como en la severidad de M. roreri y P. palmivora, sin embargo, se tuvo mayor eficiencia para el control de M. roreri con T2: 50% P + ZeoterA, mientras que, para P. palmivora, T3: 75% P + Zeoter-A fue más eficaz.
