Summary:The main objective of this research was to evaluate the manufacturing systems in the microenterprises of the metalworking sector of the Canton Quevedo both its conformation and its production processes, with the purpose of establishing if they apply some type of Manufacturing strategy; And also propose the model MSM (manufacturing Strategy model) which will allow you to evaluate and select a type of for the purpose of improving the competitiveness of microenterprises metalworking. With this proposed model in addition to improving the competitiveness of micro-enterprises, it allows it to increase productivity by reducing the unproductive times, reprocesses and wastes that usually occur within microenterprises; Achieving the sustainable development of the same, achieving competing with other company’s metalworking posesionadas in the local market as national. This model is supported by three main elements that compose the same as: corporate priority, competitive priority and strategic production decisions. Within the corporate priority, the mission and vision of micro-enterprises must be established; the competitive priority establishes four alternatives that could be selected, as well as: differentiation, costs, flexibility and time; while in strategic decisions the following aspects are studied: product, process, technology and production systems.
