Résumé:According to the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that more than 2,000 million pregnant women suffer from iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy iron deficiency that is approximately 65% of the female population, occurring in children, multiple comorbidities delay growth and cognitive development. In Ecuador it is estimated that 55.5% have iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy is 6 out of 10 women due to physiological changes that occurs during pregnancy and nutritional deficiency during the diet. With data collection and information gathering was achieved making the problem statement, research current situation, justification, objectives and approaches of hypotheses for testing and implementation of protocols comprehensive care of patients with iron deficiency anemia. This research is executed with the aim of detreminar the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women and its relation to preterm birth. In the Sacred Heart of Jesus Hospital come daily Quevedo Canton pregnant women with iron deficiency exists concern for the Government and the Public Health Ministry by the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant, it is necessary to balance the nutritional status patients for intellectual development and growth of children.
