Sažetak:The northern part of the province of Los Ríos is made up of several cantons. On this occasion we chose five of them, which are Quevedo, Quinsaloma, Ventanas, Mocache and Pueblo Viejo, we chose these cantons because it is where small farmers are still dedicated to monoculture in order to evaluate the indiscriminate use of pesticides. To assess the toxicology of pesticides used in corn cultivation through a geographic mapping. A total of 260 farmers were sampled to identify the different pesticides they use on the crop. The results show that small farmers most frequently use herbicides, insecticides and fungicides, showing that the two most used herbicides are Glyphosate with 84% and Amine with 64%, while the two most used insecticides are Radiant with 52% and Proclain with 100%, and the two most used fungicides are Thil and Bravo with 100%. It was possible to identify, according to the WHO and EPA tables, the level of toxicity with respect to the handling of pesticides, in the different applications and stages of the crop. The evaluation of toxicity for fungicides showed that the cantons of Mocache and Pueblo Viejo show the use of this pesticide, in the case of insecticides it was found that Quinsaloma, Pueblo Viejo and Quevedo are the ones that use them the most, and finally it was identified that the cantons of Quevedo and Mocache are the areas with the highest use of herbicides in the cultivation of corn.
