总结:This investigation was carried out in four sectors located in the Northern Zone of the Province of Los Ríos, during the months of July to October of 2018. Its main objective is to determine the Ecological Footprint present in crops of Theobroma cacao L. (Cocoa), through the application of indicators: land consumption, energy consumption and biomass generated to produce the counter-trace of eco-efficiency; and, the results were compared with the index established worldwide. Cocoa producers were interviewed and data was collected to complement the calculation of the Ecological Footprint, which allowed obtaining relevant data oriented to the sustainability of crop production. At the national level, an ecological footprint of 0.013 ha / pc was obtained. In the North Zone an ecological footprint of 0.232 ha / pc is observed, which is increasing through the consumption of the population, we can see that in sectors 1 to 4, the Ecological Footprint goes from 0.174 ha / pc to 0.190 ha / pc; The biocapacity at a national level of 0.032 ha / pc will depend on the hectares of cultivated land for the current population of the country. In the North Zone, 0.387 ha / pc was determined, since the sectors located in this zone will have this biocapacity. The permissible limit of the ecological footprint in crops corresponds to 0.59ha / pc, staying below this consumption limit per person.
