Summary:Autonomous learning is based on the self-management of individual knowledge and collaborative work. Autonomous learning prepares students for life in the world of work, professional, family and social life. The objective of this research is to analyze the incidence of autonomous learning on academic performance in the area of social sciences of high school students at the "Eloy Alfaro" Educational Unit, Quevedo canton, school period 2021-2022. The methodology used had a quantitative-qualitative approach, with an exploratory - descriptive investigation, as well as the bibliographic and field, with the approach of methods such as the inductive and deductive, where surveys were carried out with 170 students, 6 teachers and interviews with the rector of the institution, the results show the lack of estrategics and it is considered feasible to implement them for the teaching process and promote scientific research in students, it was also identified that student performance is regular. As a proposal, the didactic guide was designed to improve academic performance through the development of autonomous learning in the area of social sciences of high school students.
