| Streszczenie: | The present study confirms the need to look for an alternative treatment for the control of insect pests such as the bold plague, (Prodiplosis longifilia G.) which affects the tomato crop, (Solanum lycopersicum L.) which is currently affecting production in Ecuador. It is a small insect of short biological cycle and its habit of behavior makes its control difficult, the effectiveness of the control with pyrogenic acid was investigated to the Bold Larva in the laboratory and later in the tomato crop in the vegetative stage. The investigation was carried out in the Experimental Farm "La María" of the State Technical University of Quevedo in Quevedo canton, province of Los Ríos, located at Km 7½ Vía Quevedo - El Empalme, entrance to Mocache. The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of pyrogenic acid extracted from rice husk for the control of the Bold plague (Prodiplosis longifila G.) in tomato culture under controlled conditions. For the distribution of the treatments, the experimental design was used completely random (DCA). Laboratory evaluations were carried out with applications of different doses of pyrogenic acid to the Bold Larva to determine the percentage of mortality and repellency of these larvae to the treatments: T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5 of 2.0cc, 1.75cc, 1.5cc, 1.25cc and 1.0cc per 100cc of water ac/u respectively resulting in the T2 of better performance in the control of the larvae. These treatments were applied to tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in the stage of vegetative growth in a greenhouse, the phytotoxicity of the plants was evaluated using the Bayer sale methodology, it was determined that the treatments did not cause phytotoxicity, the plants were found healthy, good growth and without the presence of insects, however the agronomic behavior of the plants of Treatment 2 were the best; this allowed to determine the cost of production corresponding to this treatment that registered a value of $ 3.00.
