| description | An essay was carried out at the Faculty of Agropecuary Sciences, belonging to the Technical University of Machala, with the following objectives: to analyze the main reasons which influenced the formulation and execution of graduate thesis, as referred to technical, regulatory and politics aspects; to organize the generated information through the graduate thesis by mean of the elaboration of a catalogue. The evaluated variables were: working area, period of execution, relationship of the working area of the director and members of the tribunal with the theme of the thesis, number of graduates per thesis, problem, objectives, justification, theoretical frame, hypothesis, methodology, bibliography, selection of the theme, control and monitoring of the thesis, evaluation of the results and financial aspects of the thesis. The essay consisted of the reviewing of each one of the graduated thesis on legumes which were carried out at the Faculty. the data were taken from two sources: a) directly from the graduate thesis, and b) by interviews with professors of the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences and Professionals graduated at the Faculty. The great majority of thesis corresponded to the area of selection, with a total number of 39; meanwhile on the areas of irrigation, diseases and nematodes there was only one thesis; 56% of the thesis were carried out on the decade 1986-1995, and on the decade 1996-2005 only 8% were receipted. |

Las variables evaluadas fueron las siguientes: Área de trabajo, periodo de realización, relación del área de trabajo del director, y miembros del tribunal con la temática de tesis, número de egresados por tesis, problema, objetivos, justificación, marco teórico, hipótesis, metodología, bibliografía, selección del tema, control y seguimiento de tesis, evaluación de resultados, y financiamiento. El presente trabajo consistió, en la revisión de cada una de las tesis de grado sobre leguminosas, que se han ejecutado en la Facultad, los datos fueron tomados de dos fuentes, a). Directamente de las tesis de grado, b). Entrevistas a profesores de la Facultad de Ciencias Agropecuarias, e Ingenieros Agrónomos graduados en la Universidad de Machala. La mayoría de tesis corresponde al área de selección, con 39 tesis; mientras que en riego, enfermedades y nemátodos, existió una sola tesis por área.
